How do you spend your free time?

Have you ever had a moment where you thought to yourself, "What am I going to do today?" or "Wonder what is going on this weekend?"
If you're like the members of Delta Lambda Zeta, that thought may rarely pass, because there is always something on our plates to accomplish! There is a line in our Sorority's Hymn that states: "When Zeta calls we'll answer one and all..." The members of Delta Lambda Zeta have certainly been answering Zeta's call every weekend during the month of April...and we continue to do so!
March ended with our 2nd Annual Sister 2 Sister Workshop: "Don't Say Yes to Stress" (see our previous post). As we began April, celebrating the resurrection of Christ, we also celebrated a few service projects and activities in our community that not only had a positive impact on participants, but also aided in forging partnerships for the future.
Members of DLZ had a great time donating Easter Baskets for our annual "Books, Baskets and Bunnies" program, geared toward children in our local head-start programs. Each child receives an Easter basket with a plush toy, Easter candy, and a book that they can read to continue to improve reading skills as they prepare for entry to Kindergarten and beyond.
The following weekend was all about the annual Arts in Black Festival in Fulwood Park, "Planting Seeds of Health" as DLZ members assisted children of all ages in learning about healthy eating. Participants were able to decorate pots and plant their very own free tomato plant that they took home to nurture. The very next day, members of DLZ participated in the ABAC "Greek Awareness Program" sponsored by the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Pi Iota Lambda Graduate Chapter, where we were able to join fellow NPHC organizations in presenting the positive aspects of life being members of a greek-letter organization. We had an awesome time, especially as we celebrated the newly inducted members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Delta Lambda Zeta was proud to participate in the 2018 Relay for Life of Tift County. While raising funds for such a worthy cause, we were also able to celebrate those Sorors, family, friends and loved ones who've survived, continue to battle, and succumbed to cancer in it's many forms. As a National Partner of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Zeta Phi Beta continues to join with those still fighting the battle against cancer worldwide.
Even still, Delta Lambda Zeta continues to press onward in its next endeavor, in its ongoing fundraisers for it's annual scholarship awards -- The Ermagene Battle Memorial Scholarship, The Delta Lambda Zeta Scholarship, and the Aydela M. Bright Educational Foundation Scholarship. We are proud to celebrate this year's scholarship recipients at the 2018 Scholarship Awards Luncheon on Saturday, June 9th. Please see Events page for details and to purchase your tickets! Don't worry if you can't attend the luncheon this year, because you can still help in fundraising efforts for our scholarships by purchasing a "smoked to perfection" Boston Butt for your Memorial Day festivities!! Proceeds from the tickets for the luncheon and from the Boston Butt sales benefit the scholarship fund. Please join us in encouraging and promoting our youth for a better future by supporting these two events!!
Until next time Lovelies!!
As always...stay FINER!!
